Tranquillity and seclusion awaits the nature enthusiast in this unique and award winning eco-tourism development in scenic Bighorn Country.
Surrounded by National Parks on three sides, Bighorn Country is the ideal mountain get-away for visitors wishing to stay away from the more touristy locations, while retaining easy access to some of the major attractions of the Canadian Rockies.
Aurum Lodge and Cottages are an all-season destination, particulary well suited for those engaging in low-impact outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, trail-riding, canoeing and climbing in summer or winter-hiking, snow-shoeing, X-country skiing, ice-climbing and dog-sledding in winter. Use this location as your base to explore the many hiking trails in the region (over 100 trail heads are within an hours drive from this retreat) or take a day trip to Lake Louise or the popular Columbia Icefields during your stay. No reservation is guaranteed unless deposit received and confirmed by e-mail or fax. Please inquire for availability of a particular unit.

Equipments:
Two self-contained units (designed for two) in the cottage and a two-bedroom apartment in the loft of the utility building (sleeps four to five) are fully self-contained with kitchenette, featuring gas range / oven, fridge / freezer and microwave. All units have private baths w. shower and are fully winterized with central heating and wood-stoves. The facility is adult-oriented, non-smoking throughout and there are no phones or TV's in the guest units (the apartment features a VCR). This development is largely solar powered so there are some restrictions on use of electrical appliances (please inquire).
Note that self-contained units are separate from the lodge and access to the lodge and meals in the lodge are reserved for lodge guests only. If you prefer not to cook during your vacation, we recommend you check out our rooms in the lodge.

Location Information: Intl. airports in Edmonton or Calgary are a 4 hour drive away.
We are located off Hwy 11, two hours from Jasper or Banff or half an hours drive from the Icefields Parkway.
From Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper, take the Icefields Parkway (Hwy 93) to Saskatchewan River Crossing in Banff Park, then turn East onto Hwy 11 for 45 km (28 mi).
From Edmonton or Calgary, head for Rocky Mountain House (West of Red Deer) and take Hwy 11 towards Banff Park. Our access road is 44 km (27 mi) West of Nordegg

Rental Rates
|
Cottage Units: C$ 155 (low-season) to C$ 199 (summer) based on double occupancy
Apartment: C$ 199 (low-season) to C$ 259(summer) for two to four people. C$ 25 per extra person (max. five adults).
For four to six nights, deduct 15%. For seven nights or more, deduct 25%.
Minimum stays of three nights apply (2 nights in off-season). Taxes are extra.
VISA and MasterCard accepted.
Deposit requirement: from C$ 50 (low-season) to C$ 150 or 20% (high season).
Cancellation notice: 5 days (low season) to 3 weeks (high season).
Cancellation charges: minimum C$ 25 up to 50% of rental value, depending on timing of cancellation notice.

Low impact, human powered activities are possible year round as well as wildlife observation, phoography or day trips into the Parks. Spring, summer and fall most guests go hiking, trail riding, canoeing, cycling, mountaineering or join guided glacier walks in Jasper Park or historic mine tours in Nordegg.
As an eco-tourism facility, we do request our guests not to engage in mechanised recreational activities (heli-tours, ATV's, etc.) or trophy hunting to protect the area's wilderness appeal.
